Evan's artwork...

Check out some of Evan's characters. He's drawing like crazy these days. Not too shabby for a soon-to-be 4-year-old, huh? :)

Relaxing

That's the best way to sum up this weekend. It's the first weekend in a long time where we haven't had any major plans. It was so nice to relax at home and just enjoy being there. I think the boys felt the same way. We just had a blast having "quality" time together.

Today, courtesy of my co-worker (and fashionista hairstylist!!), Kay, I got a new "do". Check it out and let me know what you think (see picture)...I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture, but I did get some caramel highlights. They look *sweet* in the light! :)

To top off the weekend, my Mom came over to watch the boys so that me and hubby could have a nice dinner out for an early Valentine's Day celebration (since he most likely will be working tomorrow). We ate at Claddagh's Irish Pub at Southside Works. I had Irish stew and John had the BIGGEST piece of wild bass ever served on a plate...seriously...What was even MORE incredible was that John was able to finish it! I think the waitress couldn't even believe it...LOL...

Thank you Westminster Dog Show Commercial

...for giving Evan the idea that he wants a puppy.

Yes, Evan actually asked for one.
I told him that maybe we could talk about getting one after we get our new house.
Of course, we don't know when that will be, yet...so that buys us some time for him to forget! LOL!! ;)

I was supposed to have a Mary Kay party today, but it was rescheduled yesterday to next weekend.
So, instead, I just chilled with my family at home today. It was refreshing to not have anything to do or run around all day. I honestly cannot remember the last time I got to just sit and watch a movie on TV like I did today. I watched "Sex & The City" the movie. I'm not a big Sarah Jessica Parker fan (AT ALL), but I have to admit that I did get caught up in all of the materialistic glam of it all! ;) A little escapism doesn't hurt, right?

Hey...this is my 100th post on this blog.
Pretty neat! ;)

So, I'm back on my financial reading kick, again.

Here's what I'm reading...

Your Money or Your Life: 9 Steps to Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence: Revised and Updated for the 21st Century
It's one of the books that I own at home. It's a good book for giving yourself that needed dose of reality to remember that life is NOT about keeping up with the Jones's (whoever THEY are anyway...).

The book really focuses on living an authentic life.

Now, who wouldn't want that? :)

Nanny's Tales: The Dragon and the Unicorn

Evan truly enjoyed this book. After completing reading it the second night, he requested that I read over again immediately. To me, that's the sign of a great book. The characters in this book lend themselves easily for parents and grandparents alike to create their own "voices"-- including a dragon, mice and a sorcerer, among others.

Nanny's Tales: The Dragon and the Unicorn was written by one of my co-workers...ok...LONG DISTANCE co-workers (out of the Dallas office!), Katherine Coppinger. This is her first book. It's a story she created for her grandchildren when they were little. How wonderful is it that she was able to turn her grandchildren's story into a real book?! And, I'm sure she has more stories where that came from (thus...Nanny's Tales...with an "s"). If her first book is any indication, this is just the beginning of a wonderful career in children's literature!

Kathy even signed the inside cover of this book for me as follows: "To Evan & Tyler, Evan please read this fun book to your brother Tyler. Your Mom wanted to have it, isn't she great. I hope it makes you laugh out loud! Look out for DRAGONS!! Katherine Coppinger 'Nanny' January 20, 2011".

If you want a copy (or a few) of this book, it's currently selling on Amazon.com. Feel free to click on the link in this blog post to get to buy the book directly!!
